OriginSpaniel type dogs have been found in art and literature for almost 500 years. Initially, spaniels in England were divided among land spaniels and water spaniels. In the 1930's, the Cocker was the most popular breed of dog in Britain and there he stayed for almost 20 years. On the other side of the Atlantic, Americans were using the same breeding stock to develop a slightly different Cocker.
Appearance
The Cocker is a sturdy, compact, well-balanced dog. It has a characteristic expression showing intelligence and alertness. Its eyes should be dark and its lobular ears should reach the tip of the nose when pulled forward. The signature trait of the American Cocker Spaniel is its dark, expressive eyes that reflect a happy, loving, and active nature. Cockers are divided by the breed standard into three varieties: black (solid blacks and black and tan ) , ASCOB (Any Solid Color Other than Black),and parti-colors (black & white; black & white with tan points, brown & white, brown & white with tan points and red & white)
